The humble baby buggy. You probably see hundreds of them each day, all shapes, sizes, and colours. Some are traditional, others are cool. Some look simple, whilst others look like the cutting edge of technology! What they all have in common is that they belong to someone else …. that is until you learn you’re expecting! That’s when the fun begins!
When choosing your first pushchair, there are so many things to consider it’s unreal, not to mention the hundreds of different types and manufacturers! However, that’s what you need to do before you settle on the best baby buggy for you.
You need to work out how you are going to use the pram (stroller if your in the US)? Will it be from birth or later on? Will you be using the buggy from your house or from the car? Are you tall or short? Do you have other children or not? Which manufacturer do you want? Do you have a budget? The list seems endless, but some of the questions can easily be answered.

When I first started the daunting task of searching for the perfect baby buggy, there were things that could be ruled out straight away. As this was my first baby, I didn’t even need to enter the minefield of looking at a double pushchairs, or even a triple buggies!! I am not a lover of jogging, so didn’t need to look at the trendy jogging-type buggies on the matket these days.
When I was thinking of buying a baby buggy, there were a couple of manufacturers that obviously came to mind; Maclaren and Silver Cross being the most popular and traditional manufacturers that I knew. However these days there are many more to choose from such as Quinny, Bugaboo, O’baby, Phil & Ted’s and Jane to mention just a handful!
3 Points To The Best Baby Buggy
- How much money do I want to spend
- What am I doing with the buggy (walking, driving, public transport)
- How long do I want to have my baby buggy.
Figuring out how much money you have to buy your new buggy, is going to be the most important point on anyone’s list. Once you have narrowed it down by budget, you have to figure out what you need the pushchair for? Yes OK, we all know it’s for the baby, but how do you intend to travel about with the buggy. Do you walk everywhere from your house and therefore need a baby buggy to have good suspension and good wheels?
Do you have a car and use the baby buggy around the shops. So do you need to look at the size to store in the boot of your car? Would you prefer a travel system to put a car seat into? Do you regularly use public transport and so need a foldable pram or pushchair that is lightweight, easy to fold, or can easily be manoeuvred? These are just some of the numerous points you need to answer before the first purchase of your baby buggy.
