The stroller should be stable enough that you could hang the diaper bag on the handles and it not fall over. If you plan to carry more than a diaper bag while out, a stroller with a basket carrier underneath is beneficial. However, you might think about a removable basket so when you are not using the stroller, it is easier to fold and store.

Keep in mind, most manufacturers recommend a jogging stroller be used only for babies six months of age and older.

Travel Stroller

Probably one of the top choices is the travel system stroller. What makes this design so unique is that it features a sturdy, well-built stroller that comes with a car seat/carrier. When walking, the car seat/carrier is locked into the stroller but when going from outside to the car, it unlocks from the stroller and then locks into a car seat base, becoming a bona fide car seat that meets all safety regulations. Then when going inside to visit family or friends, the car seat/carrier is simply taken out of the car and taken inside. This conversion system is great for newborns and older toddlers.

Buying a Multi-Child Stroller

Today, even parents of twins, triplets, or more can purchase a car seat that holds everyone. For instance, if you have twins, you could purchase a side-by-side or frontto- back style of stroller. Then, there is an alternative to this known as the sit-and-stand design. In this case, a toddler would have the option of standing on the platform or sitting down. To the child, this type of stroller is great in that he or she feels more independent. The child can stand while at a trip to the zoo but when tired, take a seat. You might also consider purchasing two lightweight, inexpensive strollers that are made to lock so they can be pushed together, side by side. However, if you need to push only one child, then the second stroller would be disconnected. In similar situations, how many times have you realised that some kind of bag might have been useful when you are faced with the prospect of being out without a bag and had to put things such as car keys, mobile phone, purse, dummy, nappies, wipes, bottle/cup in the shopping basket underneath the buggy or sometimes, in the fold of the hood?! It’s always the way, it starts to rain, or on the rare occasion, the sun comes out and you put the hood up and your mobile phone is flung out of the crease. Or you’re trying to get your car keys out of the basket but they have caught on the netting… It’s at times like these you may wish you had a Buggy Mate and if you do your research, you can pick one up for under £14!!

The Sunshine Kids Buggy Mate isn’t a big bag and won’t take a lot of shopping, in fact it probably won’t take any shopping. What it is, however, is the ultimate in organisation. This is a compact product and a great accessory for your pushchair. It is easily attached and removed, fitting around the handles of most pushchairs with its strong Velcro straps.

The Buggy Mate itself, comprises of a strong fabric, partly mesh so some items are visible. This seems like the ideal solution to a small shopping basket underneath, however, the downside to this is that on some buggies, it creates a weight and once the child is out of the pushchair, it tip backwards. There has also been mention that it does not secure to the buggy at the bottom and therefore, can swing and hit the legs of the person pushing the baby buggy.

This baby buggy can be used from birth and gives a comfortable walk to the shops as the large plush seat can lay flat so baby can sleep. The seat can be moved up or down in one smooth glide movement without waking baby, which is another plus of this baby buggy. Other “from birth” buggies don’t lie as flat, or have jerky movements when adjusting the seat. Some can also interfere with the legs of the person walking, but not the Maclaren Techno XT. This comes complete with chest pads and a head hugger for ultimate comfort and an adjustable leg rest which also makes it more comfortable for baby or toddler.

It is a lightweight baby buggy weighing in at 6.8kg and made of an aluminum frame. The front wheels have reflective strips on and are multi-position – lockable and swivel and alongside the suspension, makes it easy to steer one handed and over all types of terrain. Brakes are good too, very sturdy and easy to put on.

Another plus of this pushchair, is that it has ergonomically designed handles which are height adjustable for the taller person. Although I have read that the height of the handles are not that great for shorter people!?

The Techno XT is an umbrella folding baby buggy and it fits easily into the boot of most cars (according to reviews) and it is easy to put up and take down, in fact it can even be done with one hand! Due to it’s compact size, it also doesn’t take up much room when storing in the house.

There is a large see through area in the hood which is UV protected and makes a great viewing window to keep an eye on your little one. It also has some handy pockets at the back of the seat and reflective piping strips along the seat. The raincover is fantastic, very lightweight, easy to put on and not too bulky to store away.

However, the biggest plus of this baby buggy, is the integral sunshade. From the small UV shade, the larger shade zips out and tilts down to cover the majority of the pushchair, meaning no more tiny parasols and adjusting depending on the sun!

The down sides to this baby buggy are that it does not come complete with a footmuff and as such, it is a bit fiddly to fit one due to having to remove the straps before it is fitted. Also, mention has been made to the shopping basket underneath, of it being rather small and when baby is lying down, it’s almost impossible to get at it.

To be honest, these are never huge things and only meant to possibly store the rain cover and maybe a few bits of shopping.

So that’s my opinion (and the opinion of many others) on the Maclaren Techno XT, happy shopping!
